Attention all Local 138 Members

On Tuesday, November 7, 2017 this year’s Election Day places on the ballot a question that will have a direct, immediate and profound impact on you, your family and your future.

There will be a state wide referendum that asks whether a New York Constitutional Convention should be convened. Were that to happen, virtually every program, benefit, law, government authority and regulatory oversight will be put into play, subject to lobbyists, special interest groups and political contributors with bottomless pockets.

As union members we have a range of safeguards and protections embedded in our state constitution that protects the very heart and soul of collective bargaining along with our private and public pensions, the prevailing wage, workmen’s compensation, and more. Literally everything that touches you, your career, your community and your family can be found written into the pages of the state Constitution.  And all of it could be taken away, amended or deleted by Constitutional Convention delegates who will be answerable to no one.

You, your family, your friends, your neighbors and your union brothers and sisters need to vote No on whether to convene a Constitutional Convention in New York.

You will not face a greater threat in your career than the potential outcome from this vote. I urge you to watch the video to better understand what the outcome could be from this referendum that will be on your voting machine this Election Day.

Take control of your future. VOTE NO in November when they ask whether you want to convene a Constitutional Convention for the purpose of changing our state constitution.

God Bless the United States of America and the members of Local138!

Fraternally yours,

John Duffy
